Founded in 1975, the ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) is the world’s leading institution in the field of global numerical weather prediction, a highly advanced modelling technology with which observations are analysed using high-performance computers. The ECMWF experts have performed pioneering work and made a substantial contribution towards the further development of data assimilation and weather prediction systems, and have therefore improved the precision and reliability of predictions.
