ESA video archive
Digitalising, indexing and making video data availlable online
Since October 2009 we have been working on the realisation of the ESA digital video archive. During the coming three years Design & Data (formerly XPERIENCIA) will support the ESA in Italy in order to gradually make all ESA video files available online; so far, these have only existed on tape.
A special meta-data system was conceived for the project that was precisely adapted to the topics at ESA. It serves as the basis for enquiries from external users and is of great importance for awarding keyword tags and for internal data sorting.
Since 1 February 2010 professional users can download high-resolution videos for their research and talks, while general users can explore the archive for their own education or simply have fun with the field of astronautics.
